Air Before You Wash

Rather than frequent washing, simply shake out your throw and hang it outdoors or in a well-ventilated room for a few hours.

Wool is naturally breathable and odour-resistant, meaning fresh air is often all that's needed to refresh the fibres.

Washing

Many of our wool throws can be carefully hand washed or machine washed on a specialist wool programme. Always check the individual care label attached to your throw before washing, as fibre and construction vary across our collection.

A note on merino & lambswool: our finer merino and lambswool throws are best left to a professional dry clean rather than washed at home, as their softer fibre is more easily damaged by water and agitation. Your care label will confirm whether this applies to your piece.

If machine washing is suitable:

• Select a dedicated wool or delicate wool cycle.
• Use cool water with minimal agitation and a gentle spin.
• Choose a wool-specific detergent.
• Avoid fabric conditioner, as it can coat the natural fibres.
• Never use a standard cold wash programme, as excessive movement may cause shrinkage or felting.

For hand washing:

• Use cool water and a wool detergent.
• Gently move the throw through the water without twisting or wringing.

Drying

After washing, remove excess moisture by gently pressing or rolling the throw inside a clean towel.

Dry naturally, supporting the weight of the blanket evenly to help maintain its shape.

Do not:

• tumble dry
• wring
• place on direct heat
• dry over radiators

Natural Pilling

Natural wool fibres may shed slightly when first used and can develop small pills (sometimes called bobbles) in areas of regular friction.

This is a completely normal characteristic of quality wool and not a fault.

If required, remove pills gently by hand or with a wool comb to restore the appearance of the fabric.

Storage

When not in use, fold your throw and store it in a cool, dry place.

For longer-term storage, we recommend using a breathable cotton storage bag together with natural moth deterrents such as cedarwood or lavender.

Everyday Use

Our throws are designed for warmth, comfort and decorative styling throughout the home.

Although wool is wonderfully durable, prolonged friction from everyday use as a sofa or chair cover may lead to increased wear and natural pilling over time.
